Approximately five years ago Sgt Jeff Morgan Commander of the
Sheriff Dive Rescue Team got permission from Capitan Stalnaker, Commander of the Victor Valley County Station to use COP’s
to help with the Sheriff’s Dive Rescue Team. At first we had to work in full class “A” uniform but after a couple
of trips to Lake Havasu in 120 degree weather we got lucky and now wear a polo shirt. Our polo shirt is a bright safty green
so divers can find us incase we go overboard or get lost.
SVL COP's are on call at all times and on stand by with
the equipment every holiday. We have been to just about every waterway with recovery of evidence, bodies and vehicles (including
Spring Valley Lake). The Dive team and SVL COP's have training every month. Some times rapid water recovery, under ice,
deep water and equipment training. COP member do not get wet but learn how to assist divers.
