Spring Valley Lake Citizen Patrol CONSISTS of VOLUNTEER MEMBERS from all walks of life interested in assisting the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

Welcome
To the
San Bernardino County
Sheriff’s  Spring Valley Lake
CITIZEN PATROL VOLUNTEERS

Citizen Patrol is a volunteer program designed for Crime Prevention. Citizen volunteers patrol for high visibility to help prevent crime.

Members must pass a background check, both CNI and DMV. They must graduate from the 40 hour Sheriff’s Academy where they are taught the inter workings of the Sheriff’s Department along with safety procedures and emergency actions. Members must pass First aid and CPR applications and emergency operation procedures.

Members also learn radio and dispatch procedures to use while on patrol or special events like roadblocks, traffic accidents, traffic control, and crime scenes.

Unlike most volunteer positions, the Sheriff’s Volunteers have responsibility for not only themselves but their partners and the public.

COP’s are unarmed and do not perform law enforcement. That is what you pay regular officers for, COP’s do non-law enforcement jobs to keep sworn officers doing what they do best for your protection. What COP’s do is save the Department, the County, and you a lot of money! The Sheriff values COP volunteers at 1/2 of Deputies pay as savings for the County.
